| WOW! Wow, Wow! We’ve exceeded the half way mark and have now raised a huge £251,889 – 50.3% of our target.
This is a phenomenal achievement over the last 11 months and as ever, a massive heartfelt thank you goes to everyone who has contributed in any way, financially, with time or effort – we couldn’t do this without you. |

Another busy month of activity, creating awareness and conversations around the need to save the fields from any chance of being developed has proved fruitful.
The remaining challenge is still significant with £248,111 to raise in the next 14 months but now feels more achievable having already raised over half.

Tickets are now available for our big fundraiser event of the year, the Black Tie Berkhamsted Ball, Saturday 31 October 2026, 7pm – late, at Nash Hall, Berkhamsted School.
Tables of 8 for groups, couples or individuals - all are welcome. |

We’re still receiving promises for the Gala Auction which now include: a one hour flight on a Piper PA28 private plane, a Four Ball from Berkhamsted Golf Club, a holiday in a beautiful lodge on a private site on the edge of the Coastal Path in Charmouth, Dorset, with extensive sea views of the Jurassic Coast and use of a holiday home in Wales. |

This continues to be a popular gift or memorial for friends and family with 6,346 spaces already sponsored.
Our young adults are now graduating and waiting hopefully for exam reults so why not consider a Space in the fields to mark their efforts. |

Shout Out to Our Fabulous Fundraisers |

This month was very busy with several large donations being raised through your local efforts. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Berkhamsted Cycling Club donated £448.44 from their Spring Classic event.
Maggie and team at the BerkoBeerFest raised a wonderful £1,000 for Castle Fields, as well as similar amounts for the other charities they support.
Dan Parry’s Guided Walks raised a substantial £1511.90 from his fascinating tours around local places of interest.
We’ve also received our first legacy from a Supporter who is also a Castle Steward:
“I have been left a small legacy, which enables me to make a donation of £4992 (equal to 128 squares @£39 each), and with gift aid this will total £6240.
My reasons for wanting to make a donation are that I feel very strongly that it is important to preserve our green spaces, save our history and help wildlife.
Saving Castle Fields does all of this.” |

We’ll be back again at the Artisan Market on Sunday 9th August from 9.30am to 3.30pm on the High Street, demonstrating to everyone the reasons we need to save these fields and outlining the Save YOUR Space campaign.

Date for 2027! Six-a-Side Cricket for All
Berkhamsted Cricket Club have offered to run their annual Six-a-Side Cricket Tournament on the bank holiday Monday 31st May 2027 in aid of the Castle Fields.
So gather friends, family to make up teams – any age or gender and of course supporting spectators for a fun afternoon.

Neighbourhood Plan Consultation
You may have received a Notification of formal consultation on Berkhamsted Neighbourhood Plan which runs for an eight week period from Monday 20th July 2026 to Tuesday 15th September 2026.
The Neighbourhood Plan, and all supporting information, is available to view online via the Neighbourhood Planning page of the Town Council website: https://www.berkhamsted-tc.gov.uk/the-council/neighbourhood-plan/
Hard copies of the Plan and all supporting material are also on permanent display at the Town Council throughout the consultation period, in the Foyer at Berkhamsted Civic Centre, 161 High Street, Berkhamsted, HP4 3HD, also with a staffed drop-in event held there between 10am and 12pm on Wednesday 9th September.
Castle Fields has been designated as a Local Green Space (Aerial photo from Appendix 3: Local Green space designations pp.107-114)
Please support this designation when you respond to the consultation as it will make a significant contribution to the Vision for Berkhamsted. |
