The Battle of Rorkeās Drift Talk
Thursday 12th November, 6.30pm - 8pm, Ashridge House
Join us at Ashridge House to hear Douglas Rattray, of Fugitivesā Drift Lodge, Rorkeās Drift, South Africa, continue the legacy of his late father, historian David Rattray, whose name became synonymous with the interpretation of the Anglo-Zulu War.
Following his recent sold-out event at the Royal Geographical Society, in this acclaimed talk āThe Battle of Rorkeās Driftā, Ā Doug examines one of the most dramatic battles of the Anglo-Zulu War, which were later made famous by the 1964 film Zulu.
Dubbed the 'white Zulu', after the tribespeople he championed, David Rattray was an impassioned expert in the history of his country and almost single-handedly preserved accounts of heroism on both sides of the Anglo-Zulu war of 1879.
The evening is kindly supported by Ashridge House and proceeds are kindly being donated to Save Castle Fields.
Tickets are £25 per person. To reserve your place please email zulu1879talk@gmail.com.
