Rights of Way in the Fields - On the Map!

This week saw the signing of the long awaited Rights of Way agreement over the Fields. Castle Fields Interest Group launched the initiative to formally recognise the historically used footpaths across the Fields (partly to deter developers).

With over 400 evidence statements, maps and photographs from folk who had used the Fields and working with Herts County Council and our local Councillors we’re now able to add the two main footpaths to the official UK footpath map.

what3words - Launch of Save YOUR Space

Saturday 6 June, 3-5pm, Castle Fields

We have virtually divided Castle Fields into over 14,000 3 x 3 metre squares using what3words. Each square will be available for a donation of £39. Simply choose how much space you’d like to save and we will allocate your sponsored spaces to you or those you gift them to.

All donations received so far are being allocated spaces with names and a message (if requested) to be shown on our interactive map which will visually present our progress and support.

Join us with fellow donors and campaigners to launch Save YOUR Space and celebrate how much has been raised so far in Castle Fields on 6th June, 3-5pm. Bring your own drinks and picnics, and enjoy some live music from the magnificent Choir on the Green.

Artisan & Makers Market – Sunday 14th June

Eliza Hermann’s Moat Path Marathon

Look out for a local neighbour to the Castle who has set up her own Moat Path Marathon.

Eliza will be walking the equivalent of a marathon length (26.2 miles) around the Castle Moat (roughly the distance from Berkhamsted to Westminster where William was crowned in 1066) by doing laps of the path around the moat at Berkhamsted Castle.

One lap of the path is about 1066 steps (just under half a mile) so she’ll be doing 60 laps over the next few weeks, so please cheer her on and share her Just Giving page.

Eliza has already been promised over £2000 for her efforts – way to go Eliza!

Auction of Promises 31st October 2026

Nash/Harris Building, Berkhamsted School

We have the date and location for our fabulous Auction of Promises in aid of the Fields and will soon be selling tickets for tables of 8.

Promises are coming in but more are very welcome to make this event go with a pop.

Big ticket prizes like holidays/second homes - or unusual experiences would all be very welcome, along with any time or services: gardening, dog walking, pet sitting or car cleaning?
