Berkhamsted Castle Trust’s purchase of Castle Fields was only made possible by a generous philanthropic loan from a former local resident. We have borrowed £500,000 to cover the purchase costs, and will need to raise further sums towards land management and environmental improvement works.
This is wonderful news, but our work is now only beginning.
The loan has to be paid back within 2 years. We need YOUR help to do this.
There are many ways that you can support the Save Castle Fields Appeal and save this cherished green space from being sold or developed.
Each contribution ‘invests’ in the process of transforming these beautiful fields into:
- a heritage asset celebrating a unique landscape of exceptional historical significance and a stepping-stone to greater protection
- a vital public space which Berkhamsted lacks, beneficial to the future wellbeing of all Berkhamsted citizens and visitors, encouraging recreational activity and health and well-being
- an ecological haven and principal wildlife corridor, preserving stunning views.
