New Bin installed at Berkhamsted Castle

We are delighted to announce that we have a new bin!

It has been installed outside Berkhamsted Castle today, on the corner of White Hill, opposite the rear of the railway station. The bin can accept both litter and dog waste, and it also has a section for cigarette butts on the top.

Only a few weeks ago, Berkhamsted Castle Trust took part in the Great British Spring Clean 2021, and volunteers spent over 4 hours picking up 10 of sacks of rubbish and recyclables around the Castle grounds

The welcome addition of a bin is a timely reminder to all our visitors to keep the Castle tidy. The majority of our visitors do not drop litter, but we ask everyone to make use of the bin and not to leave litter, cigarette butts or dog poo bags in the Castle! Berkhamsted Castle is staffed by unpaid volunteers who have to pick up any litter left, so please think of your local Castle volunteers!

If you wish to dispose of recyclables (glass, plastic, paper, etc), there is a recycling facility 2 minutes’ walk away in the Waitrose car park.
